OMICRON HGT1 PTM
Step/Touch and EPR measurement device for substation earthing systems. Lightweight, accurate and easy to use
Call us on 1300 024 473 for fantastic long term hire rates.
Description
The OMICRON HGT1 is used to safely and accurately measure step and touch voltages in a substation earthing system. When used with a suitable test injection system (for example by using the OMICRON CPC 100 and CP CU1) a variable frequency test current is used to simulate a ground fault and the step and touch voltages present can be measured and calculated. The HGT1 uses digital filtering to ensure effective noise suppression and provide more accurate measurements. A logging function allows many measurements to be taken and stored internally, for later download to a computer for reporting and analysis.
Key Features
- Mobile, battery operated handheld device – simplifies measurements at various locations inside and outside the substation
- Simulates body and shoe resistance (as defined in relevant standards)
- Frequency-selective measurements
- Digital filtering makes noise suppression more effective and measurements more accurate.
- Primary Test Management (PTM) Software
Applications
The OMICRON HGT1 PTM device is a crucial tool for maintaining the reliability and safety of earth grids for substations and areas surrounding high voltage infrastructure. Its applications include:
- Measuring step and touch voltages at multiple locations
The HGT1 PTM excels in measuring step and touch voltages at multiple locations within earth grids. This capability is essential for assessing the safety of the surrounding environment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and mitigating the risk of electric shocks. - Substation Earthing System Testing
Ensuring the effectiveness of the earthing system in a substation is critical for the overall safety and functionality of the power infrastructure. The HGT1 PTM facilitates thorough testing of the substation earthing system, providing insights into its performance and identifying areas for improvement. - Step and Touch Voltage Measurement
The device specialises in step and touch voltage measurement, allowing operators to precisely gauge the potential for electric shocks. This application is fundamental in guaranteeing the safety of personnel working in and around power transformer installations. - Earth Potential Rise Measurement
The HGT1 PTM is designed to measure Earth Potential Rise (EPR), providing crucial information about the grounding system’s effectiveness. Accurate EPR measurement aids in understanding the system’s behaviour during fault conditions and ensures the safety of equipment and personnel.
